I didn’t always get marketing

I didn’t always get marketing

Before studying it, I had a lot of assumptions about what marketing was. What changed my mind was realizing where it sits: right at the intersection between a business and the people it wants to reach.

It is where understanding a customer turns into reasons to choose one company over another and where those reasons can turn into relationships that last.

I am a continuous observer and it tickles my brain to learn about cultures and the reasons behind consumers choosing what to consume.

My favourite part of continuous learning is that learning doesn’t stop when class ends. I walk out of the classroom and become a consumer again. The ad at the metro station is suddenly targeted for me. The brand I automatically reach for at the grocery store becomes a question. Even the suspiciously well-targeted Instagram ad in my feed becomes part of the on-going lesson.
